Wasabi Root Seeds

1. Sowing Technique: Plant seeds 0.5 cm deep in a fine, airy propagation mix. Keep continuously moist and cool, as seeds require stable temperature control to break dormancy.
2. Sunlight Requirements: Keep the plant under heavy, continuous shade or filtered light; direct sunlight will quickly scorch and destroy its delicate leaves.
3. The Perfect Growing Media: Use a loose, gravelly, highly well-draining soil mix rich in organic compost. Hard or compacted clay soils will arrest rhizome development.
4. Watering Schedule: Maintain exceptionally high humidity and a wet root zone without allowing stagnant pooling. Use clean, cool water frequently to mimic a cold mountain stream environment.
5. Harvesting Habit: Dig up the plant patiently after 1.5 to 2 years when the central rhizome reaches roughly 4–6 inches long. Grate the fresh root on a traditional textured grater to develop its peak fiery flavor.
